Terms of Service
The terms governing the marketing site, participant application, and Camino programs.
Terms of Service
Effective date: [Date — set by attorney before publishing] Last updated: [Date]
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Camino Institute website at camino.to and the Camino application under camino.to/app (collectively, the "Platform"), operated by Camino Institute, LLC ("Camino Institute," "we," "our"), a Texas limited liability company.
By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Platform. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this requirement.
The Platform is currently in a pilot phase with a participant cap. We may close enrollment at our discretion when the cap is reached.
2. Account
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at support@camino.to if you believe your account has been compromised.
You may not:
- Create accounts on behalf of others.
- Use another person's account without their explicit permission.
- Provide false information when creating your account.
- Share your account access with others.
3. Programs, Pricing, and Payment
The Platform offers two programs and one add-on:
3.1 Programs
- Camino Lumen™ — a 13-reflection self-paced AI-guided program. $97 one-time.
- Lexica™ — a 21-day language-transformation sprint. $197 one-time. Lexica requires completion of Camino Lumen™. You may purchase Lexica before completing Lumen via the package-deal path described in Section 3.3, but you cannot enter Lexica content until Camino Lumen™ is complete.
3.2 Coaching sessions (add-on)
You may purchase one or more 45-minute coaching sessions with Walter Calvo, LCSW, DBA, at any time during Camino Lumen™ or Lexica™. Each coaching session is $197. There is no upper limit on the number of coaching sessions you may purchase across either program.
For Lexica™ participants, we recommend three coaching sessions across the 21-day arc, but this is a recommendation, not a requirement. You are not required to purchase any coaching sessions.
For Camino Lumen™ participants, coaching sessions are available on demand without a recommended count.
Coaching session scheduling occurs outside the Platform and is coordinated directly with Walter Calvo's office. The Platform tracks your purchased, scheduled, and completed sessions for clinical recordkeeping.
3.3 Package deal (Path B)
You may purchase Camino Lumen™ + Lexica™ together in a single checkout for $294 ($97 + $197, no discount). When you purchase the package deal:
- Both programs are billed at full price in one Stripe transaction.
- Camino Lumen™ becomes available immediately.
- Lexica™ remains locked until you complete Camino Lumen™. When Lumen completes, Lexica unlocks automatically.
You may also purchase coaching sessions for either or both programs in the same package-deal checkout.
3.4 Payment processing
All payments are processed by Stripe. Camino Institute does not store your credit card number, banking information, or any other payment instrument. Stripe's terms and privacy policy apply to your payment data.
3.5 No refunds
All sales are final. Camino Institute does not offer refunds, satisfaction windows, or trial periods on Camino Lumen™, Lexica™, or coaching sessions. By completing checkout, you acknowledge that you have reviewed the program description and confirm your purchase.
In exceptional circumstances — for example, a clinical event that warrants pausing or withdrawing from the program — Walter Calvo, LCSW, DBA may, at his discretion and in coordination with Camino Institute, authorize a manual refund. This is a clinical decision, not a contractual right.
3.6 Failed payments
If a payment fails, we will notify you by email. Your account data and program content are preserved if access is suspended due to a payment issue. If the payment failure is not resolved, your account remains suspended; data retention follows the schedule in our Privacy Policy.
4. Use of the Platform
You agree to use the Platform only for its intended purpose: personal reflection and self-development through Camino Lumen™ and Lexica™.
You agree not to:
- Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose.
- Attempt to access, tamper with, or disrupt the Platform's systems or infrastructure.
- Reverse engineer, copy, or redistribute any part of the Platform's software, prompts, conversation designs, or assessment instruments.
- Provide false information when creating your account.
- Share your account access with others.
- Submit content that is unlawful, abusive, or infringes on the rights of others.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
5. Not a Clinical Service
Camino Lumen™ and Lexica™ are structured personal-development programs delivered through AI-guided reflection. They are not therapy, counseling, psychiatric treatment, or any form of licensed clinical service. The AI-guided conversations, your Personal Insight Snapshot™, your Close Document, and your assessment scores are reflective tools — they are not clinical assessments, diagnoses, or treatment plans.
Walter Calvo, LCSW, DBA, is the Co-Founder and Clinical Director of Camino Institute. He provides clinical oversight of the Platform — meaning:
- He reviews AI behavioral specifications and clinical safety logic.
- He responds to immediate clinical safety events the AI detects.
- He may deliver coaching sessions if you have purchased them.
Walter Calvo's role is oversight and coaching, not clinical treatment. Participation in Camino Lumen™ or Lexica™ does not create a clinician-patient relationship between you and Walter Calvo or Camino Institute. Coaching sessions are educational and developmental engagements, not licensed clinical care.
If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, thoughts of self-harm, or symptoms requiring clinical attention, please contact a licensed mental health professional or a crisis service immediately. In the United States, you can always call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. You do not need to wait for Platform safety mechanisms.
6. Your Content
You retain ownership of the content you provide through the Platform, including your reflection responses, conversation content, and journal entries.
By using the Platform, you grant Camino Institute a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to:
- Process your content to deliver the program (including via AI infrastructure providers as disclosed in our Privacy Policy).
- Generate your Personal Insight Snapshot™ (Camino Lumen™) and your Close Document (Lexica™).
- Maintain memory records that enable continuity across your reflections.
- Apply Camino Pacing System calibration and vocabulary arc tracking during Lexica™.
- Maintain backups for disaster recovery.
- If you have separately consented (see Section 7), use anonymized derivatives of your assessment data for instrument validation research.
This license does not permit Camino Institute to:
- Sell your content.
- Use your content for advertising.
- Share your content with third parties for their own purposes.
- Use your content beyond the program-delivery and research-consent purposes described above.
The license terminates 90 days after you cancel your account, except for clinical records (Section 8 of the Privacy Policy) and anonymized research derivatives (if you consented).
7. Research Participation
If you have elected to participate in Camino Institute's instrument validation research at enrollment, you have separately agreed to the terms of the Research Consent document. Your research consent is independent of these Terms. You may withdraw research consent at any time without affecting your access to the Platform.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Camino Institute, its officers, employees, and contractors (including Walter Calvo, LCSW, DBA, in his capacity as Clinical Director) shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Platform — including but not limited to lost profits, lost data, lost opportunities, or emotional or psychological impact — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total aggregate liability to you for any and all claims arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid Camino Institute in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars ($100).
This limitation does not apply to liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (such as gross negligence, willful misconduct, or violations of statutory rights that cannot be waived).
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Camino Institute, LLC, its officers, employees, contractors, and agents from any claim, loss, liability, damages, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:

13. Modifications

If you do not agree to material changes, your remedy is to discontinue use of the Platform. The data-retention provisions in our Privacy Policy continue to apply to your data after you discontinue use.
14. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect, and the unenforceable provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable while preserving its intent.
15. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any Research Consent document you have separately agreed to, constitute the entire agreement between you and Camino Institute regarding your use of the Platform, and supersede any prior agreements or understandings.
